Ten.Ten. Bares All! (Strategy, tips, probability)

Hello Everyone! How is the Honey Quest coming along? It seems like Pigg Life has readjusted the difficulty again. Even though we aren't being bombarded with impossible energy sucking quests, like in the Lavender challenge, the honeycombs and stamps seem to be rarer.

Probability data for the honey quest

Stamp: It is estimated between 75~90%  but leaning more towards 75%. I have to agree this time because it is definitely lower than usual
Honeycombs: 16%~20%. In the past, the rare crops has been fixed at 20%. But this time, I can tell it has lowered and is more towards 16%. Maybe it's due to this quest being "Disney" and therefore they made it a bit harder to complete.

I've been asked a lot about my strategy but I don't really use one. I approach every quest more or less the same. Of course, reading about stamp/special item probability is interested but it's more of a confirmation than being helpful. Therefore, all I can do is explain what I do and maybe someone might find it useful.

200+
I always plant as much as I can and more than I can harvest in 24hrs. I usually plant more crops than I do trees though--trees are a pain in the butt-. For the first day of the quest, I plant 30 crops/trees every 2 1/2 hours. 200 event crops are usually enough. I make sure that there will always be something to harvest. Having down time is okay but it's usually better to always have ripe crops at your disposal waiting to be harvested. (For the honey quest, it is recommended to have around 216 trees planted.)

Pay attention
I can usually tell the difficulty of a quest during the first harvest. During the first harvest of your new event crops, pay attention. I usually harvest in batches of 30 -the max- and I take note of how many special crops I receive. The less I receive, the harder the quest. Therefore, I need to either harvest more frequently or plant more. Of course, knowing the probability is useful if you can't keep track on your own.

Diligence
The only time I'm not harvesting, cooking etc. is when I'm sleeping. I can't really say I waste any stamina during daylight hours and that plays a huge part. Having energy can make or break a quest. I remember one time I didn't finish a quest just because I didn't have enough energy. :( So, make use of your energy!

I am usually able to obtain at least 2 stamina bottles from completing the daily log-in during the course of the quest. I sometimes also level up during a quest, which gives me an extra 30 stamina! Don't forget to eat at other player's gardens. I can get 6+ extra stamina a day from eating at my visitor's gardens. Thanks Guys!

In the past I would tell you to pay attention and prepare for the happy times but I can't even predict when they'll come. :/

Batches
I usually cook and harvest in batches. I don't harvest a few crops here or there. I find that I especially benefit from harvesting in batches of 20+. Cooking is more lenient (higher probability) and I usually do it in batches of 6 or less. Although, I'm not too keen on harvesting construction packages in batches. I have better luck when I harvest those when I make them.

Organization
I think a lot of being able to complete a quest is due to organization. This is easy for me since I'm a control freak when it comes to my garden, but try to always be aware of how much materials you'll need, when your stamina bar is full, how much time you have left etc. Also, try to have it so your crops are growing when you're sleeping and ready to harvest during waking hours. Having control over your garden really keeps you from being stressed or rushing about on the last day.

Prep
In the past -not so much recently due to Pero/Robin quests-, I used to finish quests early. During this time...I usually planted basic crops or made staple ingredients. It's safe to assume that wheat, tomatoes, onions, butter, batters, dough, and dressings will be used in future quests. Therefore, I always try making these as much as possible so that I'm not wasting my stamina trying to make/harvest them during the quest. Having extra vegetables saved me during the summer vegetable quest and having lots of butter saved me tons of times!

Conclusion
So, in conclusion my strategy is basically to play as much as I can and plan ahead as much as I can. Of course, having a routine or strategy that works for you will only increase your chances of finishing the quest on time. This routine works for me and the only reasons I have for not completing a quest is: not planting enough-damn trees-, not playing as much as usual or sleeping more than usual. xD I don't use cheats or whatever and I've never had to buy any of those AG special items to complete quests either. So, I'm still a believer that you can finish these quests with hard work alone.

What are some of your strategies, advice, and tips!? Share them in the comments below if you like. :D

Here are some tips I've come across

1. To increase the chances of stamp: When cooking, have your Pigg character run around
2. To increase the chances of stamp: Cook 3 times then refresh the browser (log in/out). Repeat etc.
3. To increase the chances of stamp/crop: Cook/harvest when there are less people in Pigg (early morning/ late night)
4. To increase the chances of stamp/crop: Cook/harvest when your PC is at its best (running smooth).
5. To increase the chance of rare crop: Crops that are not watered have a higher probability of giving the rare crop

I'll keep looking out for more. xD

Also,  in case you are wondering how I get some of my numbers, here are two of the many probability tables I look at for information to translate. There are serious Pigg lifers out there that aggregate data for the sake of Pigg Life. :D

  1. Thanks I was expecting maybe a brief response about batches and little tricks like the running around and stuff (I don't know if that's true but I do it sometimes because its what I have come to notice myself when cooking)but you did a whole post, its very helpful - thank you.

  2. I've never tried the running around one but I'm going to because I haven't been receiving much luck this time around concerning stamps. >_<

But, I'm glad you found it helpful and you're very welcome!

  3. I can finish the event with hard work only include the star quest also (except for construction events, i was never able to get the limited items when it came to that kind of quest). I'm glad they released the mobile version so i can harvest my crops anytime and dont waste any stamina without being too obsessed hanging around the computer all day (in fact, the mobile version is a lot more pleasant to do all the work, and now they added that exchange function, it's perfect now). I know not everyone has a smartphone but i think it's an important key for a game like this.

  4. The mobile version is slowly growing on me! I like being able to harvest so fast. I agree that if you have a smartphone it can be useful and give you an advantage but if you don't have it, it's okay too. :)
